SYSPRO USA CEO Brian Stein Joins ChainLink's Ann Grackin on Featured Event Tackling Food Recalls/Traceability, Legislation, ERP Solutions at Supply Chain Management Event
PHILADELPHIA - October 18, 2011 - SYSPRO, a developer of best-of-breed, award-winning enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for on-premise and cloud-based utilization, participated with ChainLink Research here on an executive panel addressing supply chain integration challenges at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) Annual Global Conference held October 2 – 5 in Philadelphia. Brian Stein, CEO of SYSPRO USA joined ChainLink's Ann Grackin in discussions on food safety and recall issues, current and pending recall legislation and how technology solutions, such as SYSPRO's, could be of value.
SYSPRO lot traceability and serial tracking functionality afford extensive visibility up or down the chain, as well as providing specific component to parent tracking, thereby providing the means to expedite recalls, should the need arise, said Stein. "In fact," he noted, "so extensive are the traceability aspects inherent in SYSPRO software that they extend to Landed Cost Tracking which provides visibility of imported goods and tracks all associated costs -- another area to which the FDA is applying more stringent regulations."
Stein related how Chicago-area based Chocolate Potpourri, the winner of numerous industry awards for its effective utilization of SYSPRO enterprise software, has established a product recall plan that fully leverages the extensive traceability and tracking capabilities inherent in SYSPRO software. Chocolate Potpourri's plan makes full use of these functionalities to trace product ingredients from origin, through the manufacturing process, to their ultimate destination, fully maintaining assurance certification and tracking expiration dates.
Using SYSPRO ERP queries, Chocolate Potpourri's recall team has the ability to locate the supplier of the suspect ingredients, the supplier production lots and the dates received. The team can call up the jobs to which the ingredients were issued, determine which customers had purchased the resulting products and issue a product recall, when required by governmental authorities.
